Quick Nick Flounders while the rocket from Russia collects a podium

Well we’ve had our first race of the year and while not a vintage Austrailian grand prix it still was a good watch. The DRS system seemed ok, obviously teams still have to sort it out but the tires also played their part too. But the drive of the day has to go to Vitaly Petrov picking up his maiden podium bring the renault home in 3rd place beating Ferraris and a red bull on the way. People have been asking what Robert could of done in the car and im not sure the top two steps were quite within reach. Vettel had a storming drive, perfectly in control throughout.

The tires didn’t fall away as we expected them to and Sergio Perez manged only one stop to get to the end, however both the Saubers have been disqualified after a technical infringement. This does mean that both of the Force India’s scored points and therefore Paul DiResta picks up points on his debut.

It was a torrid day for Mercedes with Schumacher getting tapped by a Torro Rosso at the start and having to retire, followed a few laps later by Rubens Barrichello attatcking the side pods of Nico Rosbergs silver arrow and forcing him to park up. Team Lotus got one car to the finish as did Virgin although it was not quite the weekend either team were hoping for.

Hope you all enjoyed the race.

oh if you were wondering Red Bull didn’t have KERS at all.
