Details have emerged that the DRS straight will be the pit straight again in Sepang (note the most expensive tickets) but with back to back drags it will be interesting to really see how much difference it makes this weekend.
Second up is the details of the differences in the cars, with Renault and Red Bull using 10% more fuel to make their diffusers effective, which goes someway to explain their one lap pace compared to their race pace. The other teams have got blown diffusers that do not use extra fuel and McLaren especially seem quite close.
Talking of McLaren the team brought a simpler package to Australia with a basic red bull type diffuser (which blows slots in the edge of the diffuser) and there is definatley development and improvements to be made there. The current package had only had a few weeks development which shows McLaren’s ability to develop the car in the era of no testing.
Mercedes also dissapointed caught out with set up and possibly the tires and we expect better things from them this weekend. Team Lotus also suffered badly in Austrialia only getting the tires up to around 75 – 80% temp according to Mike Gascoyne. This weekend in Malaysia the teams are expecting degredation to be similar to the pre season tests due to the heat.
Also its the Thursday before the Malaysia Grand Prix thus everyone is playing weather soothsayer and saying x or y about the weather.
But its been raining all right: http://yfrog.com/gzjqzmtvj
