Silly Season 2011/12 is officially over with Narian Karthikeyan taking up the final seat at HRT displacing Tonio Luizzi who is left without a drive for the year. The Indian completed 7 grand prix at the start of the year before being replaced by Daniel Ricciardo of Red Bull. He returned for an 8th outing at the inaugral Indian Grand Prix where he put in a good showing.
Karthikeyan put in a good effort last year after being out of F1 for so long and while possibly lacking that brutal out and out speed he was a safe pair of hands. It leaves HRT with the oldest driver lineup on the grid totalling 75 years between the two drivers (Pedro De La Rosa – 40 and Karthikeyan – 35).
It is surprising to see the Indian back on the grid this year as he struggled with funding last year and was a choice of ex team principle Colin Kolles.
In other news Ferrari have cancelled their launch as Marenello is about a foot deep with snow, so they cant do any demo running and its difficult for people to get there. In a sort of tounge and cheek/clever PR Fernando and Felippe were presented with Ferrari coloured Jeeps.
